Keynote and Expert Panel

Photo caption: Plenary speaker Khaled Al Naif and AED's Paul Bundick. FIELD Day’s keynote speaker was Dr. Stuart Hart, Samuel C. Johnson Chair in Sustainable Global Enterprise and Professor of Management at Cornell University’s Johnson School. Dr. Hart is a founder of the Base of the Pyramid model and a leading thinker in how global businesses can contribute to positive economic development outcomes at the grassroots level. Dr. Hart’s presentation highlighted the need for a new generation of BoP strategies that stress the co-creation of products and the commercialization of “green” technologies. Panel discussion emphasized how the new generation of BoP strategies will connect business and communities in a collaborative process for innovation and change.

The expert panel was chaired by Dr. Paul L. Bundick, Director, FIELD Support LWA, from AED and the panel moderator was Khalid A. Al-Naif, Director, Development Consulting Services, The William Davidson Institute at The University of Michigan. Panelists were: Avram 'Buzz' Guroff of ACDI-VOCA, John Magnay of Opportunity International, Simon Winter of Technoserve, Joan Parker of the Dairy Industry Association, and Chris Dunford of Freedom from Hunger.
