Well functioning markets have the ability to enable growth, support resiliency and reduce poverty for the world's most vulnerable populations. Catalyzed by a new partnership between the UK Department for International Development (DfID) and the Swiss Development Corporation (SDC), in coordination with a consortium led by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), the BEAM Exchange aims to build a vibrant community among policy advisors, consultants, practitioners, and businesses to improve access to field-orientated guidance and evidence of good practice and results. This community will replace the M4P Hub website in September 2014, and is an opportunity to serve the wider community of practitioners, policy makers, and researchers in the field of market systems development.
In this rapidly emerging field, practitioners and policy advisors can face a challenging array of strategic and less-practical guidance for decision-making. The BEAM Exchange will bring together accessible and authoritative knowledge on key areas of market system approaches and foster peer-to-peer learning to fill gaps and enrich practice.
The program's objectives are threefold:
- BEAM will build an easy-access online platform. to act as a knowledge hub drawing together existing and emerging resources, including good practice tools and advice on programs.
- BEAM will drive research to close critical knowledge gaps within market system approaches. Through consultation, the program will develop a responsive research agenda to support policy and practice.
- BEAM will work to build a robust evidence base for market system approaches, and support efforts to improve the results measurement and impact evaluation practices.
